Summary:
On May 4, 2024, there will be an election for council positions 4, 5 & 6. Attached is a calendar of dates that show the relevant information for this election. A brief discussion of new laws and dates will be provided by City Secretary Smith.
Candidate applications can be accepted between Jan 17 and Feb 16th, 2024 in the City Secretary’s office. Candidate packets can be downloaded from our city website or copies can be provided in person. We can’t accept emails or fax applications since there is a $25 filing fee requirement.
Campaign Financial Reports are now required to be posted on the City’s website within 10 days of receipt and must remain online for five years. This is for all reports received after September 2023.
Another new law is that the runoff election day is now set by the Secretary of State for all uniform May elections. This law overrules our home rule charter.
