Summary:
The Fire Department submitted a request to purchase a new 2028 Pierce Custom Velocity Platform 100’ Aerial Ladder Truck as part of the City’s FY 2024-2025 Budget process.
The new Pierce Custom Velocity Platform 100’ Aerial Ladder Truck will replace the existing Tower 3 truck, which is 20 years old. Due to supply chain challenges, delivery is expected in 48 months after the order is placed.
The City did not budget funds in the FY 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 Budget, since the equipment will not be delivered and paid for approximately 48 months. However, the City must have funds available when an order is placed for this equipment. Funds have been identified as being available in the Fund Balance of the City’s General Fund in order to allow an order to be placed for this equipment.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
$2,500,000.00 of the Fund Balance of the General Fund be assigned for the placement of an order for a 2028 Pierce Custom Velocity Platform 100’ Aerial Ladder Truck.
Recommended action
It is recommended that City Council designate $2,500,000.00 of the Fund Balance of the General Fund be assigned for the placement of an order for a 2028 Pierce Custom Velocity Platform 100’ Aerial Ladder Truck.
