Acceptance of the proposed Fiscal Year 2024-2025 CCPD Budget submitted by the Deer Park Police Department.
Body
Summary:
The Deer Park Police Department has prepared a proposed budget for the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. Under a separate agenda item, the Board will be asked to schedule a public hearing on the proposed budget on June 10, 2024 at 5:15 PM.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Revenues: the proposed Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budget includes total revenues of $2,222,210. Sales tax revenues of $1,850,000 represent an 8% decrease from the current budget and is approximately 27% less than the revenue received in the most recently completed fiscal year 2022-2023. The estimate for the current fiscal year is 8% less than the prior fiscal year. These estimates are based on decreasing sales tax trends due to the decline in inflation. The revenues projected in the budget are reflective of the collections the District received, with a slight increase, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic when inflation was stable. To help compensate for the decrease in the District's fund balance due to the cost of the new Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and relieve the burden on the District's fund balance, a transfer of $362,210 from the City's Asset Replacement Fund has been included in the 2024-2025 budget to cover capital costs.
Expenditures: the proposed Fiscal Year 2024-2025 budget includes total expenditures of $2,037,044. This amount includes $1,674,834 of operating expenditures and $362,210 of capital outlay. Operating expenditures include salaries and benefits for a total of seven positions funded by the District, software, equipment rental, and grounds maintenance at the firing range. Capital expenditures include the purchase of five new patrol vehicles, the equipment needed to outfit the new patrol units, and one Chevy Malibu.
