Summary:
The City advertised and received five (5) bids for refuse bags to be purchased for FY 2024-2025. Currently, the City currently has 10,029 active residential water accounts. The City would need 20,058 rolls available in October for each resident to receive two (2) rolls of refuse bags. Residents also have the option to purchase additional rolls of bags throughout the year.
The bid tabulation is attached showing all bids received.
The City currently has approximately 6,500 refuse bags in storage and recommends the purchase of a quantity of 20,000 rolls for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. The bid that meets specifications for the 20,000 rolls is Houston Poly- Bag at a unit price of $9.95/roll for a total cost of $199,000. Samples of the company’s refuse bags were submitted in accordance with the bid specifications and are in compliance.

$12.65/roll for 16,000 rolls total cost $202,400
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Refuse bags are budgeted in the Sanitation Department, Account No. 010-402-43090, Garbage Bags.
Recommended action:
Award bid to Houston Poly- Bag for 20,000 rolls of refuse bags at a unit price of $9.95/roll for a total cost of $199,000.
