Title

Consideration of and action on an ordinance to amend the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Crime Control and Prevention District budget for the purchase of two Chevy Tahoes from Lake Country Chevrolet.

Body

Summary:

In April 2023, the Police Department ordered two (2) Chevy Tahoes from Lake Country Chevrolet.  Due to supply chain disruptions the lead time to receive the vehicles was scheduled for October 2024, pushing the purchase to the FY 24-25 Budget.  Due to the immediate need for patrol units, two alternate vehicles were purchased through a different dealership.  On July 17th, staff was notified the original units ordered through Lake Country Chevrolet are ready to be delivered.  Due to the delivery occurring in FY 23-24, a budget amendment is necessary to purchase the two vehicles.  The cost for both units is $93,335.50.  This additional appropriation would be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD).

The FY 24-25 CCPD Budget included funds to purchase five (5) patrol units.  Due to these units being received in FY 23-24, only three (3) units will be ordered in the upcoming budget year.

On August 5th, the CCPD will hold a special called meeting to authorize the budget amendment and recommendation to City Council.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

Add $95,000.00 to the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget for the Police Department (Account No. 820-300- 49060, Automobiles) to be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the Crime Control and Prevention District, which is available for this purpose.
