Discussion of issues relating to updating audio-visual equipment in the City’s Council Chambers.

Summary:
Audio visual equipment City-wide is updating and refreshed on a routine basis. It has been several years since the microphones, TV wall, etc. in the Council Chambers have been refreshed, and as a result are now experiencing technological deficiencies due to use and advancements over time.
Staff intends to work with DataVox for this equipment refresh, pending discussion with Council, and is proposing a committee be created to shepherd this project.
Funds are available for this via Public, Education and Governmental (PEG) access channel fees. Cable video service providers charge their customers PEG access channel fees at a stated rate per customer per month, which is this remitted to the appropriate municipality. This is considered a special revenue source, and therefore has restrictions on what it may be used for. This audio-visual refresh meets the requirements for use of PEG funds.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
This project would be funded with PEG funds, which are available for this purpose.
