Title
Consideration of and action on a resolution to authorize the submission of a Harris County Pct. 2 Partnership Grant application to the Harris County Pct. 2, committing to provide the required cost share if awarded.

Body
The City of Deer Park is seeking approval to apply for a Harris County Pct. 2 Partnership Grant to develop an additional section of the "Battleground Hike and Bike Trail" (Unofficial name). With this action, Council would be approving the City of Deer Park's grant application for a Precinct 2 Partnership project with Harris County. In January of 2025, Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia recently announced his office was accepting new applications for the Partnership Grant. These grants cover 50% of the total project cost, with the City funding the remaining half. The City of Deer Park applied for and received this grant for the "Battleground Hike and Bike Trail Project" in 2023. The project is currently out to bid and is slated to begin construction in summer of 2025. The current project begins at the corner of Battleground Rd and X Street in Deer Park.
This new grant application would see to add an additional section to the Hike and Bike Trail. The extension of this trail would add roughly 3,750 linear feet to the project. In additional, it would allow pedestrians to safely access Pasadena Blvd from Battleground Rd. Utilizing the current cost estimate from the "Battleground Hike and Bike Trail" it is estimated that the City of Deer Park would need to match a Harris County Pct. 2 contribution of $650,000.
One requirement of the grant application process is having the governing body of the applying agency acknowledge support of the application and matching requirement. This items seeks to fulfill that requirement.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Potential grant funding of $650,000, to be matched with an additional $650,000 from City resources, which are available for this purpose.
