Summary:
The Municipal Court is amending its schedule of fees and fines effective April 1, 2025. Fees and fines are periodically evaluated by the Municipal Judge and Court Administrator with the last increase taking place January 1, 2020. The proposed increase is intended to compensate for the growing costs associated with maintaining court operations and the enforcement of municipal regulations.
Attached is the “Deer Park Municipal Court Schedule of Fines and Fees Effective April 1, 2025” itemizing the new fees and fines associated with various offenses. The proposed total reflects the fee required by the State and the fine proposed by the City. Note: the Municipal Court Judge has the discretion to lower the fine (City’s portion) but not the fee (State’s portion).
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
The updated fees and fine schedule will realize an increase to Municipal Court revenue.
