Summary:
During the December 5th, 2023 City Council Workshop, City staff presented on the status on the search for a vendor to assist with Christmas décor around the City of Deer Park. Committee members and staff engaged with several potential vendors and reviewed numerous options. Dekra-Lite, a nationally recognized company, that provides custom decoration and light displays to numerous organizations around the United States presented to City Council an overview of the level of services that they could provide. They also provided information on a potential decoration and maintenance plan for Christmas decorations for the City of Deer Park. City of Deer Park staff was then directed to discuss further with Dekra-Lite the details pertaining to the proposed decorations and maintenance plan. In addition, Dekra-Lite was asked to present and determine a cost for the services to be considered.
Dekra-Lite has provided the City of Deer Park with the requested information and presented to City Council on February 20, 2024 the cost estimate, items to be included, and explained the level of service that the City of Deer Park would receive. Staff has met with Derka-lite and is now ready to proceed with a recommendation for approval of the purchase of Christmas light services.
The annual cost per year would be $149,908.36 and would include the following items:
• 5-year lease with installation, removal, and storage
• 30’ Sequoia Tree with RGB lights/music package
• Custom light décor package for 30’RGB tree w specialty ornaments
• Custom star for 30’ RGB Tree
• Custom RGB programming
• Custom “Tex” Deer
• Nativity Scene (4 pieces)
• Nativity Scene custom manger with hay
• Two 9’ deer greeter
• Seven custom Tex themed photo moment signs
• Ten 10’ sections of inline garland - lit and decorated
• Thirty-five 6’ Angel Pole mounts
• Two 12’ Custom monument caps
• Eight 36” red velvet structural bow with gold trim

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Funds for Christmas decorations are budgeted in the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund account 101-601-43080.
