Summary:
Last year Public Works purchased four (4) SmartLevel manhole covers from HydroPro Solutions in order to try them out and see if they would benefit the department. We found the results to be very helpful, and therefore budgeted to purchase 10 additional units this fiscal year.
The SmartLevel system offers cost effective satellite manhole monitoring to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows, optimize collection system cleaning, and accurately identify inflow and infiltration (I&I). Additional benefits include:
• No confined space entry for employees which minimizes field resources and safety hazards.
• Full system data available within and hour of installation.
• Continuous system visibility with no disruptions during extreme weather events or poor coverage associated with cellular networks.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
The Water & Sewer Maintenance Division budgeted $91,000 for this project, in account 400-501-49040. The proposed cost is $73,965.00.
