Summary:
The process for preparing the FY 2026-2027 Budget began on -----April 1, 2026, with City Management and the Finance Department conducting budget “kick-off” meetings with various departmental staff citywide. The budget schedule showing all of the critical dates in the budget process is attached. The schedule takes into account the budget timelines specified in various state laws, including Local Government Code, Chapter 102 (Municipal Budget), Local Government Code, Chapter 363 (Crime Control and Prevention District Act), Local Government Code Chapter 344 (Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District Act), and the City Charter.
The proposed budget for FY 2026-2027 was presented to City Council at on July 14, 2026 at which time the City Council called a Public Hearing to be held at 7:30 p.m. on August 4, 2026, in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 710 East San Augustine Street, to hear all persons desiring to be heard on or in connection with any matter or question involving the proposed budget for the City of Deer Park for the year beginning October 1, 2026. The proposed budget for FY 2026-2027 has been filed with the City Secretary and is available for inspection by all interested persons.
