Title

Consideration of and action on approving the purchase of services from SKE Construction for the 2024 Waterline Rehabilitation Contract.

Body

Summary:

The Public Works Department started the waterline rehabilitation program four years ago in order to address the waterline breaks and pipe failures within the City’s water distribution system.  The program has been very successful.  It involves entering into an agreement with a Buy Board company for a one-year period.  Projects are selected by the Public Works Department and the contractor is given a work order to proceed with rehabilitation.  We are charged by a predetermined per line-item cost.

We are now ready to enter into an agreement with SKE Construction, a Buy Board company, for the 2024 Waterline Rehabilitation Contract. The first work order will be to replace the 2” Waterlines that are in the back lot easements on 1st Street through 5Th street with 5950 LF new 6” HDPE waterlines in the front ROW of the residences. This project will increase flow pressure, fire protection, and water resiliency. This will also allow for placement of the new AMI meters in the front yards instead of the back yards when that project is ready for installation.

The total cost of this contract is $551,663.78.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

Funding for this project will come from both the Public Works Water/Sewer Fund.
