Discussion of issues relating to the purchase, installation, and monitoring of an ambient air monitoring system in the City of Deer Park.

Summary:
The fixed ambient air monitoring system would consist of four (4) stationary monitors and two (2) handheld units that can be deployed in the field. The system would be installed and monitoring performed by CTEH which has provided their services in the past. CTEH would provide public information and outreach on the system to citizens. The system will monitor ten (10) volatile organic chemicals.
The purchase would be made through GSA (General Services Administration) Contract #47QSMS25D008Q.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Approved in FY25-26: $35,000 in General Fund for reoccurring annual cost of monitoring, plus $89,100 in General Fund Capital Outlay for purchase of equipment.
The total cost is $164,999.48. The City of Deer Park received a Port Security Grant for reimbursement totaling $82,500. The City’s cost is $82,499.48.
