Summary:
In 2025, Council adopted a series of regulations pertaining to the short-term rental of residential properties in Deer Park. Earlier this year, a federal appellate court upheld the City of New Braunfels’ regulations restricting short-term rentals in residentially zoned neighborhoods. Given this decision, City Council re-visited this issue during City Council Workshop on September 15, 2026, expressing interest in doing the same.
The proposed ordinance attached prohibits short-term rentals within residential zoning districts. With the passing of this ordinance, previously permitted short-term rentals currently in residential zoning districts will cease short term rentals by March 30, 2027.
Letters were mailed to all active short-term rental permit holders on September 17, 2026 advising them of this anticipated change, including the March 30, 2027 deadline.
