Title

Consideration of and action on purchasing the services of Branch Construction Group, via TIPS Contract No. 23010401, for the East X Street Pavement Improvements between Luella Avenue and Karankawa Court.

Body

Summary:

A portion of East X Street pavement is experiencing major failure, with cracked and crumbling concrete.  A total of 456-linear feet of pavement needs to be removed and replaced before it continues to deteriorate.  This area is located between Luella Avenue and Karankawa Court.  City staff met with Branch Construction and detailed the scope of work, which includes removing the existing 6-inch concrete pavement and replacing it with 7-inch concrete pavement.  The thicker concrete is an improvement that is necessary due to X Street being one of the designated truck routes here in town.  The heavy trucks that travel this street really put a lot of wear and tear on the pavement and having a thicker concrete, with #4 rebar, would allow this area to provide many more years of service to our infrastructure.

Branch Construction provided us a proposal for $485,291.00 with an anticipated 40-working day construction period.  This proposal is through TIPS Contract No. 23010401.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

Funding for this project will be paid through the 2022 General Obligation Fund (Fund 310) from money allocated for street improvements.
