Title

Consideration of and action on purchasing the services of SKE Construction to perform the Cast Iron Waterline Replacement - Phase 1 Project via TIPS Contract #26010402.

Body

Summary:

Year one of the 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes $2,000,000.00 in funding to replace old cast-iron and asbestos cement waterlines throughout the city’s water distribution system.  Most of these waterlines were installed prior to the year 1975, and have out lived their lifespan.  Most of the broken watermains we experience are from these older waterlines.

The plan is to fund a total of $5,500,000.00 to replace these older lines over the course of the next 5-years with this first year’s funding being $2,000,000.00.

SKE Construction has provided a proposal, through their TIPS contract, for $1,508,500.00 for this first phase of work.  The scope of work involves replacing 8,250 linear feet of 2-inch cast-iron waterline with 6-inch and 8-inch HDPE pipe.  This will also include additional fire hydrants and valves.  This initial work will take place on portions of Kingsdale Street and Luella Avenue.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

Funding for this project is included in the Series 2026 General Obligation bond funds.
