Summary:
In June 2022, the City of Deer Park engaged Avenu Insights to perform Sales and Use Tax Compliance Services. The scope of the engagement includes monthly auditing of the City and Special District’s sales tax data to detect and correct sales and use tax errors, ensuring revenue is being properly reported and allocated. Avenu Insights receives 30% of the revenue they recover for a 24-month period.
The Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget for the Fire Control Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District (FCPEMSD) included an appropriation of $15,000.00 for the 30% collection fee. The collection fees for the fiscal year totaled $32,858.70. A budget amendment in the amount of $18,000.00 is necessary to fund the overage. The additional appropriation would be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the FCPEMSD.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Add $18,000.00 to the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget for the FCPEMSD (Account No. 830-900-42400, Consultant Fees), to be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the FCPEMSD, which is available for this purpose.
