Summary:
Recent legislation was passed that requires entities to have a “auditable voting system” by 2026. At the October 1, 2024 council meeting, City Council approved the request to purchase new election equipment from both Hart InterCivic and KNOWiNK LLC.
This resolution is to approve the adoption of using the stated equipment in all future City elections. This adoption requirement is pursuant to Chapter 123, Subchapter A of the Texas Election Code. Exhibits attached to the resolution provide the required Secretary of State certifications and the detailed listing of the equipment purchased.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Budgeted and already purchased via BuyBoard contract.
Recommended action
Approve the resolution adopting the stated election equipment for the conduct of all municipal elections for the City of Deer Park.
