Summary:
A Request for Qualification (RFQ) was advertised to find qualified firms who were interested in providing professional architectural services relative to the preliminary design and feasibility study for the Renovations to the Existing Theater Building and Fire Station No. 1 to a Blackbox Theater.
Once the new courthouse has been completed, the court staff will move out of the existing building. The desire is to renovate the existing building to be a more functional theater with a better layout and storage. The existing Fire Station No. 1 will also be vacated soon and there is an interest in converting it to a Blackbox theater. The proposed architectural firm would provide the city with options and cost scenarios.
We received 10 responses to the RFQ. On March 4th, a committee consisting of City staff members reviewed and rated the Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) received from the architectural firms. The top four (4) firms listed below were invited to make oral presentations to the Architectural and Engineering Committee (A&E):

* PBK Civil & Government
* Project Luong Architects
* Studio Red Architects
The aforementioned four firms made presentations to the Architectural and Engineering Committee (A&E) members, consisting of Mayor Jerry Mouton, Councilmember T.J. Haight (absent), Councilmember Ron Martin (absent), City Manager Jay Stokes, Assistant City Manager Sara Robinson, Director of Parks & Recreation Kenny Walsh, Assistant Director Parks & Recreation Jacob Zuniga, Theater Supervisor Susan Mele, Technical Production Coordinator Joe Piper and Contract Administrator Kathy Holcomb.
