Summary:
The purpose of this item is to enter into an agreement with XGD drainage to perform drainage work at the Minchen Athletic Complex, Spencerview Athletic Complex.
City Staff has worked with XGD Systems previously on greens drainage at the Battleground Golf Course. The installation of the drainage system has been very successful.
The drainage system provided by XGD Systems is a trademarked ‘Classic Greens Drainage’ system. As such, it has been determined by the City that as a trademarked and exclusive system, this procurement that is available from only one source, because of patents, copyrights, secret processes, or natural monopolies is exempt from competitive bid requirements under the City’s Purchasing Policy and the Section 252.022(7) (A) of the Local Government Code.
The cost for the installation of the XGD drainage system at the two sports complexes is estimated at $69,646.42 There is an additional cost for sand for the project which is yet to be determined.
$100,000 was budgeted for the project from a quote received from XGD and includes the additional cost for peat and sand mix which would be required as part of the project.
Staff is working with XGD on the scope of work, contract requirements and setting a date for construction with limited effect on playability at the complexes.
