Title

Consideration of and action on an ordinance to amend the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Budget for the Fire Department in the General Fund to Replace the Awning at the Drill Field.

Body

Summary:

The canopy/awning at the Drill Field was destroyed during a significant weather event (possible tornado) on June 3, 2021.

An insurance claim was made and the payment of $17,585.72 was received on March 11, 2022. Being that the insurance proceeds were received in a prior fiscal year, the cash currently sits in the General Fund’s unassigned fund balance.

The Volunteer Fire Department would like to move forward with replacing the canopy/awning for a total cost of $18,630.00. This project was not included in the fiscal year 2022-2023 budget and therefore a budget amendment in the amount of $17,586.00 is requested. The amendment would be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund, which includes the prior year insurance proceeds of $17,585.72. The remaining $1,044.28 project costs will be absorbed by the Fire Department’s current budget in the General Fund.

Quotes received:

Hou-Tex $47,000

ABC Awning $18,200

E&S Construction $42,395

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

Add $17,586.00 to the fiscal year 2022-2023 budget for the Fire Department in the General Fund (010-311-44130, Drill Field) to be funded by the unassigned fund balance, which is available for this purpose.
