Summary:
Our goal is to eventually provide permanent, stationary, generators to our lift stations. We have several lift stations that require would operate on portable generators after emergency events. The portables are not an efficient solution for the lift stations. After power outages, we have to load the portables onto trailers and deliver to the lift station locations and then constantly maintain the fuel in them in order to keep the sanitary systems operating fully.
This year we budgeted $150,000 to install two natural gas generators at the Railroad Avenue lift station and the Wynfield Estates lift stations. Doing so would mean the generators would automatically kick into service when needed and there would be no need to constantly monitor the fuel levels.
Motion Industries is on the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program and has quoted us $148,081.08 for the purchase and installation of the two generators.

This purchase is budgeted in the Water & Sewer Maintenance Division’s account 400-501-49040.
Recommended action
Approve the purchase of two generators through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program.
