Summary:
City staff is experiencing an increase in maintenance issues with the lights at the tennis courts. These issues have required staff to consistently replace the lightbulbs, causing periods on inadequate lighting on the courts. The tennis courts are in high demand with the popularity of tennis and pickleball in the community. In order to best serve the citizens, staff has sought out a permanent solution to transition the lights from metal halide to LED. In addition to resolving the maintenance issues, the LED lights will reduce energy costs. The cost to transition the lights from metal halide to LED as quoted from Highlights Electrical through the Buyboard purchasing cooperative is $49,926.00.
This project was not included in the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget, therefore a budget amendment for the Parks Maintenance Department in the amount of $50,500.00 is necessary.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Increase the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget for the Parks Maintenance Department (010-432-49030, Improvements Other Than Buildings) by $50,500.00 to be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund, which is available for this purpose.
Recommended action
Approve the ordinance amending the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Parks Maintenance Budget.
