Consideration of and action on an ordinance to amend the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget for the Parks Maintenance Department to purchase a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500.

Summary:
This 2025 Chevrolet 2500 Crew cab will replace Park Operations Unit #904 which was totaled in a traffic accident while conducting hurricane clean up on East Blvd on July 12th, 2024. Its primary use is to assist with the daily operations of the Park Operations division department, including transporting employees to various parks facilities, landscaping needs, and pulling trailers when necessary, and more. The vehicle will be purchased from Country Chevrolet through the TIPS USA Contract #: 210907 and will cost $52,451.25.
Being that the purchase of this vehicle was unexpected, a budget amendment in the amount of $53,000.00 is requested to allocate funding. The amendment would be funded from the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund, which is available for this purpose. The City will receive a $24,400.00 insurance settlement for the vehicle that will be added to the General Fund’s fund balance.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Add $53,000.00 to the fiscal year 2023-2024 General Fund’s budget for the Parks Maintenance Department (010-432-49060, Automobiles) to be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund, which is available for this purpose.
Recommended action
Approve the ordinance to amend the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget for the purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500.
