Summary:
The Deer Park Police Department is seeking to continue its partnership and Inter-Local Agreement with DPISD for the 2024 spring semester by providing two (2) School Resource Officers (SROs) for DPISD students. The overall anticipated cost to be shared is $218,731.65. The addition of the two (2) officers is included in the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget. This will bring the total to one sergeant and ten officers working in the schools, which Agreement will be renewed before August 1, 2024.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Officer Wages +Benefits + training and equipment = $218,731.65
DPISD cost = 70% or $153,112.15
City of Deer Park cost = 30% or $65,619.50
Recommended action
Approve the City of Deer Park and DPISD School Resource Officer Inter-local Agreement for adding two additional SROs for the 2024 spring semester.
