Summary:
The HVAC software, and hardware, that is currently used by the city is thru Johnson Controls. All City facilities are on the Metasys System provided by Johnson Controls, with the exception of the Library, Police Station, Fire Station No. 3 and the EMS Building. Johnson Controls has notified the city that the facilities not yet upgraded will need to transition to this new system.
The current software and hardware in use at, other facilities, allow the city’s HVAC staff to monitor, troubleshoot, and adjust settings remotely. The Library, Police Station, Fire Station No. 3, and EMS Building are currently not on the Metasys System, and last year, Johnson Controls communicated that these facilities need to be upgraded to ensure compatibility with the latest technology.
Upgrading to the Metasys System offers several benefits. It enhances monitoring and maintenance capabilities by providing a graphics display that helps staff quickly identify malfunctioning components, ultimately improving routine maintenance tasks for the city’s HVAC staff. Additionally, this upgrade will bring the facilities up to recommended cybersecurity software and hardware levels, thereby protecting city assets and sensitive data.
This purchase will be utilize Johnson Controls, Texas Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) contract #22010601.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
The Public Works’ HVAC division budgeted $67,426.00 for this upgrade. The updated quote is $72,300.00 which is $4,874.00 over budget. There are sufficient funds in the departmental budget to cover this overage.
