Consideration of and action on an ordinance to amend the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Grant Fund Budget for Phase II of the Hike and Bike Trails Project.

Summary:
On March 18, 2025, City Council authorized the resolution to accept a partnership grant with Harris County Precinct 2 to construct phase II of the hike and bike trails. The grant includes a 50% cost share between the City and Precinct. 2. The total contribution agreed to by the City was $650,000.00. The City was recently notified by Precinct 2 they are ready to enter into an agreement and begin design work. In order to provide the City’s portion of the cost share, it is necessary to amend the budget in the Parks Maintenance Department in the Grant Fund $650,000.00 to allocate funding for this expenditure in the FY 2025-2026 Budget. The amendment to the budget will be funded by a transfer of unassigned fund balance in the General Fund to the Grant Fund.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Add $650,000.00 to the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Grant Fund Budget for the Parks Maintenance Department (Account No. 105-432-49030, Improvements) to be funded from a transfer of unassigned fund balance from the General Fund to the Grant Fund (Account No. 010-105-45300), which is available for this purpose.
