Summary:
The City of Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department has received a $60,000 grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield through the National Fitness Campaign to partially fund an outdoor Fitness Studio at Dow Park in 2027. The Fitness Studio would significantly enhance the existing outdoor fitness equipment and allow for outdoor programming as well. The City would be responsible for funding the remaining amount of the project, which would include an estimated $260,000 for the Studio and shade cover, $57,000 for concrete base and shade footings and $69,750 for assembly, totaling an estimated $386,750.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Currently, $150,000 is budgeted in CIP to fund replacement equipment. If approved, a budget amendment would be needed for the additional $236,750.
