Summary:
The purpose of this item is to authorize purchase of nine (9) Smart Max/Smart Double stations from Big Belly Solar, LLC. to be placed at various City of Deer Park athletic complexes.
In the fall of 2023, Pemex approached the City about a possible partnership to assist the City with it’s sustainability efforts. It was proposed that the City was interested in purchasing additional Big Belly units. The City has had previous experience with these units in Dow park and at the Community Center in the reduction of trash and collection of plastic bottles. The City proposed utilizing these units at athletic complexes where these units could be of benefit due to the amount of trash and bottles normally collected at these sites.
Pemex has graciously donated $85,000 to the City of Deer Park to purchase and install these units. The total price to purchase the nine (9) sets of units would be $79,608.00. Remaining funds would be utilized for installation materials at the various athletic complexes. The units are double units which includes a solar trash compactor unit and recycling unit, foot pedals, hopper, message panels, custom wraps to highlight the City/Pemex partnership, a 5-year warranty and a 5-year software subscription.
Big Belly Solar, LLC has provided the City with a sole source vendor letter which is attached to this item. In addition, the quote for the 9 units is also attached to the item.
