Summary:
The Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget for the Parks and Recreation Administration Department included funding for salaries and benefits. In May of 2024, the Parks and Recreation Director retired and a new Director was hired. To ensure a seamless transition in the leadership of the department, the retiring Director and newly hired Director worked alongside each other for a period of time. As a result, the salaries and benefits costs for the Parks and Recreation Administration Department exceeded its budgeted appropriation by approximately $42,000.00 for fiscal year ending September 30, 2024.
A budget amendment for $42,000.00 is requested to appropriate the additional funds necessary to fully fund the Parks and Recreation Administration department for the Fiscal Year. The additional appropriation would be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Add $42,000.00 to the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget for the Parks and Recreation Administration (Account No. 010-430-41010, Salaries), to be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund, which is available for this purpose.
