Consideration of and action on a Resolution Supporting a Grant Application for a 2024 Harris County Precinct 2 Partnership Project.

Summary:
With this action, Council is approving the City of Deer Park’s grant application for a Precinct 2 Trails Partnership project with Harris County. Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia recently announced his office has grant funding for sidewalks, roadways, drainage, and hike & bike trails. Parks & Recreation Department staff is working to submit an additional $200,000 grant application for expanded hike & bike trails. This will be a matching Grant application with commitment of $100,000 from the City of Deer Park and $100,000 from Harris County Precinct #2.
Currently the project has been funded with $850,00 with $400,000 from Harris County and $450,000 from the City of Deer Park. The additional fund request with meet the projected cost of the Hike and Bike Trail proposed.
One of the requirements of the grant application process is having the governing body of the applying agency acknowledge support for the application via a Resolution such as this.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Potential grant funding of $400,000; matching grant of $200,000 from the City of Deer Park and $200,000 from Harris County Precinct #2.

Approve the resolution.
