Title

Consideration of and action on a resolution to seek and accept a Fiscal Year 2026 STEP Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Traffic Enforcement Grant.

 

Body

Summary: 

These funds will provide approximately 252 hours of enforcement and/or education on CMVs with the explicit goal of reducing crashes involving these vehicles during the time period of October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026.  The area covered is designated as the north end of the City.

These funds will be used to provide additional commercial motor vehicle enforcement and public information and education in the City of Deer Park.

 

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact: 

Fiscal year 2026 STEP grant will require an in-kind match of approximately $4,747.20 from the City of Deer Park, which will be met with sergeant’s enforcement overtime.  TXDOT will provide approximately $16,701.48 for patrol officer overtime salaries.  The proposed grant is for a total of $21,448.68.
