Title

Consideration of and action on accepting completion of the 2025 Waterline Improvement Project.

Body

Summary:

At their meeting held on 02/18/2025, City Council approved the purchase of service from SKE Construction, via Buy Board contract #660-21, for the 2025 Waterline Improvement Project.  This year’s services focused on Norwood Street, Meadowlark Street as well as some minor work on East 2nd Street.

During the process of installation of the AMI water meters, it was discovered that the waterlines along Norwood and Meadowlark were still in the backyards of residential homes. This project involved abandoning the existing waterlines, located in the backyards, and installing new waterline within the street right-of-way.  Relocating the waterlines was necessary to complete the AMI Water Meter Project. We also had a small number of water services lines on East 2nd Street that needed to be relocated for the AMI project.

The original contract amount was $448,800.00 however, it was necessary to issue a change order for $9,700.00 for additional water line service connections on both Meadowlark and Norwood Streets, as well as installation of two additional fire hydrants and restoring the grass and pavement, where necessary. This change order brings the total project amount to $458,500.00

All work has been completed, and inspected.  At this time, we are requesting that Council accept completion of the project and approve the release of retainage.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

The cost of this work was funded out of remaining funds in the following water / sewer bond funds: Series 2012, Series 2016 and Series 2018 CO Bonds.  There is a total of over $600,000 available in these bonds to cover the cost of this work.
