Title

Discussion of issues relating to the feasibility study for the possible Theatre and Old Fire Station #1 renovations.

Body

Summary:

On April 15, 2025, Deer Park City Council authorized City staff to begin negotiations with Studio Red Architects to complete a feasibility study for the possible renovations to the existing Theater Building and Fire Station No. 1 to a Blackbox Theater. Shortly thereafter, an agreement was reached and Studio Red Architects began work on developing a feasibility study for the existing Theater Building and Fire Station No. 1. City of Deer Park staff and have been working with Studio Red Architects to review existing infrastructure at both facilities. Several aspects and design layouts have been considered as the City has worked with Studio Red to develop a reasonable scope.

Studio Red has now provided the City of Deer Park with a conceptual design as well as two (2) estimates of probable costs. One budget includes the construction of an outdoor amphitheater space, while the other budget does not. The conceptual design features renovations to both the existing Court and Theatre building and the old Fire Station No. 1.

Attached to this document is a copy of the conceptual design plans and the two (2) estimates of probable costs.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

To be determined.
