Title
Consideration of and action on ratifying the application submission and approving the acceptance of a grant through the DOW Foundation.
Body
Summary:
Established in 1979, the Dow Company Foundation is a separately governed, private foundation designed to carry out Dow’s charitable efforts. Grant funding awarded through the Foundation cannot result in tangible benefits to Dow, its employees, or the Foundation. The Dow Company Foundation offers funding to local governments around the Dow site locations. The Foundation awards funding for equipment used by first responders during the response to critical incidents.
The proposed funding will support the Police Department’s Drone program by outfitting a Police Tahoe that will be used as a mobile drone deployment unit. The drone upgrade includes a new computer station that is capable of managing the Drone video and Drone mapping software used in criminal and vehicle crash investigations. The funding will also allow the Police Department to add Smart Connect, which allows the radio to automatically transition between the radio network and preprogrammed WiFi networks. This capability ensures the device maintains the strongest available signal, significantly improving communication reliability.
