Consideration of and action on entering into an Interlocal Agreement with Deer Park Independent School District (DPISD) for the East Second Street Repair Project near the DPISD Bus Barn.

Summary:
DPISD presently is in the process of making significant improvements to their Bus Barn facility located on East Second Street. As part of this project, they will be improving the south side of Second Street from the Bus Barn entrance to the east to the end of Second Street. They are obligated to repair only the south side of street, and plan to replace existing asphalt roadway with concrete. Officials with DPISD approached City staff to ask if the City would like to take the north side of Second Street in this same portion of roadway and remove the asphalt and replace it with concrete. This would prevent us having a portion of having roadway that is half concrete and half asphalt. We asked their contractor to quote us a price to have the north portion of Second Street converted to concrete, and the contractor informed us it is $114,568.00. With this action, Council is entering into this Interlocal Agreement (see attached) whereby DPISD will pay the contractor $114,568.00 for this extra work, and the City will reimburse DPISD for this expense. This keeps the City from having to issue a separate bid, and separate design work, for the project.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
The cost is $114,568.00 for be funded with available City street bond funding.
