Consideration of and action on an ordinance appointing members to the Senior Citizen Commission for a two-year term expiring December 31, 2026.

The following members of the Senior Citizen Commission are up for reappointment for a new two (2) year term that runs from January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2026.

Sec. 2-100. - Established.

There is hereby created and established a senior citizens commission for the city.

(Code 1991, § 2-181; Code 2003, § 2-96)

Sec. 2-101. - Compensation; appointment; terms.

The senior citizens commission shall serve without compensation and shall consist of seven members who shall be appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council. All members of the senior citizens commission shall be appointed for two-year terms. The terms of the members of the senior citizens commission appointed shall expire January 1. The commission shall elect one of their members as chair. All members of the senior citizens commission must be residents of the city at the time of their appointment. If any member of the senior citizens commission moves his residence outside of the city, then his term of appointment shall automatically expire.

Sec. 2-102. - Duties.

The senior citizens commission shall advise and recommend to the city council as to activities and products relating to the city's funding out of the city senior citizens trust of projects or activities for the city's citizens who are 55 years of age or older.
