Presentation and recognition of service for outgoing Board of Adjustment and Planning and Zoning Commissioner Don Tippit.

Summary:
Three board terms of service end in May 2026, those who were expiring were asked if they wished to continue another two-year term, Don Tippit thought hard about this and in the end, he decided that it was time to leave the boards. Thus, he turned in his resignation notice and will not be extending his time on either board.
Both boards (BOA & P&Z) will present Don with a plaque at their Monday night monthly meeting and will join him at a scheduled appreciation dinner later this year in his honor for all of his years of dedication to the City of Deer Park on the board & commission.
The history of Mr. Tippit’s service to the City of Deer Park:
• Mr. Tippit was appointed as an alternate to the Board of Adjustment on May 17, 1994, at the 1136th regular Council meeting. Ordinance No. 2317 appointing Mr. Tippit was signed by Mayor Jimmy Burke, City Secretary Sandra Watkins, and City Attorney P.B. Dover.
• Mr. Tippit was appointed as a full member to the Board of Adjustment and Planning & Zoning Commission on May 21, 1996, at the 1184th regular Council meeting. Ordinance No. 2436, appointing Mr. Tippit was signed by Mayor Jimmy Burke, City Secretary Sandra Watkins and City Attorney P.B. Dover.
Mr. Tippit has been on the BOA and Planning & Zoning Commission close to 32 years. It has been an honor to have him serving in that capacity and we wish him the best in the future.
