Summary:
Council heard from the DP Police department during the workshop on the issues regulating the use of motor assisted scooters, self-balancing transporters, and e-bikes in the City of Deer Park on streets, alleys, and sidewalks. The use of motor assisted scooters, self-balancing transporters, and e-bikes on streets, alleys, and sidewalks in the City of Deer Park is increasing.
This ordinance is necessary to eliminate traffic and safety hazards related to the use of motor assisted scooters, self-balancing transporters, and e-bikes, to promote public safety, and to require children to wear helmets while operating such transportation devices.
