Title

Consideration of and action on approving the purchase of services from Worldwide Power Products via The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS), contract #221001, to install an existing generator at the Street Maintenance crew building.

Body

Summary:

Earlier this year, City Council approved the replacement of the existing generator at the Transfer Station. The previous generator, though recently installed, was determined to be undersized and insufficient to fully service the facility. As a result, the generator was removed and placed into storage, with the intent of repurposing it for use at the Street Maintenance crew building.

The existing generator at the crew building is more than 20 years old and is no longer reliable. Public Works had originally requested funding for the relocation and installation of the newer generator in the proposed FY 2025-2026 budget. The total cost of this project is $57,000 and includes the removal of the old generator, installation of the newer unit, replacement of existing switch gear, and an upgrade to the existing gas line.

Upon review of the current FY 2024-2025 budget, staff has identified sufficient funds within the Street Maintenance departmental budget to cover the full cost of the project this fiscal year. The City Managers and Finance Director have reviewed and support proceeding with the project at this time, pending City Council approval.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

Funds are available in the Street Maintenance current fiscal year budget.
