Consideration of and action on approving a change order for the Clarifier Repair at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Summary:
At their meeting held on November 5, 2024, City Council approved purchasing the services of Coastal Pump Services, through Buy Board Contract #672-22, to make budgeted repairs to clarifier #1 at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The original agreement amount of $152,640.00 was a best estimate amount for the work, considering the unit had not been disassembled.
Now that the unit has been disassembled and fully inspected it was discovered that the bull gear was damaged beyond repair and would need to be replaced. This additional work increases the agreement amount by $68,139.00 for a total agreement amount of $220,779.00.
Proposed Change Order No. 1, in the amount of $68,139.00 has been submitted.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
The Wastewater Treatment Plant has a total of $200,000 budgeted for repairs to the clarifier, in account line item 400-502-49030. The proposed increase is $20,779.00 over our budgeted amount; however, we do have savings in other line items to cover this additional expense.
Recommended action
Approve the change order which would allow for the repair/replacement to be completed and have the clarifier placed back in service.
