Summary:
The clarifiers are a major process of the Surface Water Treatment Plant that allow the solids to come together and settle out of the water through chemical addition. In 2023, Clarifier 3 and Clarifier 4 had multiple issues with gear boxes and ultimately, Clarifier 4 was taken out of service. Parts were ordered in July 2023 and arrived in full in April 2024.
Coastal Pump Services Inc. provided a bid for the labor to install the new parts under Buy Board contract 672-22. As the bid is through a Buy board contract, no other bids were requested.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
400-503-4903 was budgeted with $975,000 for this project. $541,420.70 was used for parts. The quote from Coastal Pump of $328,784 is within the remaining budgeted funds for this project.
Recommended action
Approve the purchase of services from Coastal Pump Services, Inc. for the rehabilitation of Clarifiers 3 and 4 at the Surface Water Treatment Plant.
