Discussion of the 2024 Strategic Plan.

Summary:
On March 1, 2024, the City Council and staff participated in a planning session facilitated by Ron Cox. The morning session with City Council and executive staff was for Council to discuss and confirm the Council’s governance process. The afternoon session was for the City Council, executive staff, and department directors to develop goals and strategies for the coming years.
As a result of the afternoon session, each strategy that was developed was categorized under one of the six (6) ‘Areas of Emphasis’ shown below:
• Leadership/Governance
• Quality of Life/Image
• Comprehensive Planning
• Economic Development
• Public Safety
• Organizational Excellence
On April 16, 2024, Council clarified a number of issues related to the Areas of Emphasis of the 2024 Strategic Plan. Staff then began creating action steps and timelines to finalize the plan.
At the May 7, 2024 regular City Council meeting, the 2024 Strategic Plan will be an action item on the agenda seeking Council approval for adoption.
