Consideration of and action on accepting completion of the new Fire Station No. 1 and approve the release of $404,486.48 in retainage.

Summary: 

On December 19, 2023 City Council awarded the construction of Fire Station No. 1 to Purcell Construction, Inc.in the amount of $8,050,000.00.  City staff has performed final walk-throughs of the building and BRW Architects has approved the project being completed and accepted.

Change Order No. 1 has been issued for contract reconciliation that reflects previously completed and accepted work.  The change order adds $39,729.53 to the contract amount making the total cost for construction $8,089,729.53. 

 

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact: 

$6,100,000 of the project was funded with Series 2023 General Obligation Bond proceeds.  The remainder was covered by the CIP fund and bond interest earnings.

 

Recommended action

Accept completion of this project and approve the release of $404,486.48 being held in retainage.
