Summary:
The Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Fire Control Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District (FCPEMS) Budget included $60,000 in funding for repairs and maintenance to vehicles in the Fire Department. During routine preventive maintenance inspections, both Tower 3 and Engine 31 were found to have significant mechanical and safety concerns that could result in catastrophic failures of the units.
Major repairs to Tower 3 included: faulty dash gauge cluster, engine oil leak, replace all four tires, leaking valves, leaking hydraulics, leaking stabilizer, faulty fog monitor controls, replace headlights, replace kussmaul charger, replace master basket leveling cylinders.
Total Repairs = $56,987.36
Major repairs to Engine 31 included: replace front shocks, replace brake drums, replace front brakes, replace door seals, replace radiators, service A/C, replace headlights, replace rear lights, replace cab lift cylinders, replaced hoses due to leaks, faulty window, faulty back up camera.
Total Repairs = $41,145.85
Due to the costly repairs to Tower 3 and Engine 31, the appropriation for vehicle maintenance exceeded its budget by approximately $98,000.00. To fully fund the repairs, a budget amendment in the amount of $98,000.00 is necessary.
This budget amendment is scheduled to be approved by the City Council at their meeting on October 21, 2025.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Add $98,000.00 to the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 FCPEMS budget for the Fire Department (Account No. 830-311-44010, Vehicles) to be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the FCPEMS District, which is available for this purpose.

Approve the recommendation to amend the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 budget for the FCPEMSD.
