Summary:
The proposed change to the current zoning ordinance includes the following related to data centers:
- Defining “data center”;
- Addressing the need for a Specific Use Permit (SUP);
- Components and requirements (including water and electrical needs), and plans;
- Life safety and other emergency requirements; and
- Zoning classification.
There was an agenda item for the November 2, 2026 Planning & Zoning Commission to discuss this proposed ordinance change, and the proposed joint public hearing date.
There is an agenda item for the November 3, 2026 City Council Meeting calling for a joint public hearing with the Planning & Zoning Commission on December 1, 2026, after which the Planning & Zoning Commission will provide their formal recommendation to City Council.
There is an agenda item for the December 1, 2026 City Council Meeting for this proposed ordinance change.
