Summary:
The current Unit 714 walking floor trailer is a 2015 Wilkens model, and the constant deterioration of the floor shortens the useful life for this type of equipment. The combination of acid, other liquids, and outdoor elements has caused the floor to rapidly deteriorate. This unit is used to carry garbage to the landfill and needs to be replaced.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
The trailer would be purchased from Wilkens Industries, Inc. via BuyBoard contract #686-22 at a cost of $126,301.00. The department was approved a budget of $140,000.00 in the 2025-26 Asset Replacement fiscal year budget for this purpose.
