Consideration of and action on an ordinance amending the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Budget to complete renovations to the Theater/Court Building.

On August 16, 2016, City Council approved an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Budget in the amount of $558,500 for the approximate cost to replace the roof, skylights, side windows and wing walls at the Theater/Court Building. At the same meeting, City Council approved an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Budget in the amount of $35,000 to replace the insulation of the duct and pipes in the Theater/Court Building.
Due to various delays related to material acquisition, about 48 percent of the work on the roof, including the skylights, side windows and wing walls, was completed during the 2015-2016 fiscal year. As work on the roof progressed, it was discovered that the framing around the interior skylights was inadequate due to previous faulty repairs and additional work was required to properly complete the installation of the new skylights. This additional work will add $14,741 to the project cost. The Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Budget should be amended for $303,824, which represents the balance of the work to complete the renovations plus the additional amount needed for the skylight framing.
The renovations to the Theater/Court Building also include replacement of the heating system at a cost of $84,437, which was budgeted in Fiscal Year 2015-2016. Because of delays with the roofing project, the heating system was not started in Fiscal Year 2015-2016 and will be completed in Fiscal Year 2016-2017. Additionally, part of that project involves the installation of new gas and water piping. This will require a plumbing company to perform the work and will add $4,600 to the total project cost for the heating system. The Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Budget should be amended for $89,037, which represents the total project cost for the heating system.
