Consideration of and action on an ordinance amending the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Hotel-Motel Tax Fund Budget to complete implementation of Phase 1 of the way-finding signage system plan.

Summary:
The City identified the need for a comprehensive way-finding signage system to increase citizen and visitor access to the many amenities within the City. On July 7, 2015, City Council authorized an agreement with National Sign Plazas ("NSP") for the design, planning, fabrication, and installation of a comprehensive way-finding signage system. The way-finding signage system plan and authorization of a second agreement with NSP for the Phase 1 implementation of the plan was approved by City Council on May 3, 2016. The City anticipated completion of Phase 1 of the plan during fiscal year 2015-2016 and budgeted $150,000 accordingly. The City anticipated completion of Phase 2 during the current fiscal year 2016-2017 and budgeted $200,000 to complete Phase 2. Because of unexpected delays during the planning process, Phase 1 was not started during fiscal year 2015-2016. However, the City is now ready to proceed with Phase 1 and will then proceed with Phase 2 in order to complete the project during fiscal year 2016-2017 as originally planned. To accomplish this, it is necessary to amend the fiscal year 2016-2017 budget to add the $150,000 cost of Phase 1 of the way-finding signage system plan to the current budget.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
$150,000 to complete implementation of Phase 1 of the way-finding signage system plan will be added to the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Budget for the Hotel-Motel Tax Fund (Account No. 11-601-4308, Small Tools & Minor Equipment) and will be funded by the prior year revenues of the Hotel-Motel Tax Fund, which are available for this purpose.
