Summary:
During the September 20, 2016 council workshop staff presented a proposed parking lot that provided 49 additional parking spaces parallel to the existing parking lot behind city hall that encroached into Dow Park. In an attempt to maximize parking spaces and reduce the impact of the parking lot footprint on the gazebo, granite trail, concrete sidewalks, drainage ditches, and existing trees, staff produced a parking lot design that has been approved by the city engineer.
This project has a critical deadline since it will accommodate the parking spaces lost during the construction of the new city hall. Because of this urgency, staff has decided to use the ESC 19 - Allied States Cooperative and is requesting Council’s approval of the purchase of services of T.F. Harper for the above mentioned project. The engineer’s estimate for this project was $350,000.00.
Total Bid Price: $314,164.30
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Funds for this Project will be drawn from Fund 35 of the General Obligations Bonds issued in 2005.
Recommended action
At this time the Engineering Department is requesting the approval of this purchase from T.F. Harper.
